Bitcoin is unique and useful. That's why it's valuable. It's not complicated.

Bitcoin is useful and has functionality that no other currency can provide.

As a currency it does things other currenies cannot do.

As a store of value, it does things other stores of value cannot do.

As a unit of account, it does things other units of account cannot do.

Bitcoin is uniquely useful. That's why it's valuable.

Here's substantiation that you probably won't read.

Bitcoin acts as a bearer asset and a decentralized settlement network at the same time. This enables capabilities that are fundamentally impossible on traditional fiat rails like ACH, SWIFT, or credit card systems.

Because legacy systems rely on centralized intermediaries to handle financial logic and hold funds, they are limited by restrictions that Bitcoin's fundamental cryptographic protocol isn't.

Some.of the more important properties of Bitcoin are:

Self-Custody - It's a bearer asset. Fiat shitcoins are IOUs on centralized banks' ledgers. Bitcoin allows people to hold their wealth directly by using private keys and cryptography. It's digital gold that the users have absolute control and ownership over.

It's resistant to censorships and unfreezable - As long as you actual hodl your own coins you cannot be frozen or blacklisted from the entire network. You can still use custodial services when they make sense, but you aren't forced to. No central authority can suppress a user's financial freedom. Very much levels the playing field between regular people and large powerful entities.

Irreversible Transsactions - Fiat rails typically allow for things like chargebacks and transaction reversals. Once a Bitcoin transaction is validated by miners and confirmed on the blockchain, it is permanent and irreversible, completely eliminating chargeback fraud. If you want the features of charge backs (buyer protections) or escrow or whatever for some transactions you can opt in. Use a third party that provides it. But it's not forced on you.

Permissionless and pseudo-anonymous by default - Opening a normal bank account requires a legal identity, credit checks, and compliance with banking regulations. Anyone with an internet connection can create a Bitcoin public/private keypair and participate in the global economy. We all have seen how much bs is coming down the lane with identity verification, and government spyware. Bitcoin lets you opt out of all that noise for the most part.

Immutable Monetary Policy - Central bankers can fuck with the supply of fiat currencies and we don't really have much say in it. Bitcoin is open source and has mathematically predictable monetary policy. It is hardcapped at 21 million coins, and the rate of new coin issuance is consistent and predixtable.

Changes to this policy are open and take the majority of the network to actually implement. No small cababl of selfish actors can move the ship in the direction that only they want.

Internet native programmable money - Legacy fiat based ledgers only hold records of balances. On the Bitcoin network logic and script-ability are baked right into the protocol. Things like multi-sig, escrow, lightning network, time locked contracts, and anything else you can dream up are possible by just building right on top of the bedrock that is Bitcoin.

The above are just some of the unique features Bitcoin offers. You can map them yourself to the currency/unit of account/medium of exchange use cases yourself easily.

The security model, immaculate conception, years of proving itself, anonymous founder, etc are all required too but not necessarily why it has value.
